St. George

This weekend my brother and I took our first road trip together, not as a whole family, and we decided to head down to Southern Utah to visit our friend Nick Rhodes. Little did I know, that so much more would happen on our trip.

The four hour drive down to St George was not the funnest time of my life, but Jer and I did manage to entertain ourselves by listening to music, swapping some stories, reminiscing about old times, and making fun of things we saw along the way. After hours and hours of driving we finally ended up in St. George, thanks to Google Maps on my smartphone.

As we enter the apartment the first person I see is a cute girl sitting on the couch, nick had not mentioned that he such attractive friends, and I thought hey maybe this trip will be a lot better than previously thought. So we unpacked our car and set up camp in Nick's semi spacious apartmen, 6 guys plus jer and I made for some good times.

Well, a lot of things happended but there are only a few things that I am going to talk about here, so as not to bore you as I hithertofore have done. The night we arrived Nick took us to something he called a Foam dance. I think it was officially called "foamilicous" or some similar clever name. At this point I didn't know too many people, and I don't paricularly like dancing, so I thought this evening wouldn't been to satisfactory to me desire to have the best time ever on my trip. Thankfully I was pleasently suprised.

Turning the corner into the dance we were met by a vision of a small crowd of people gatherered around two machines suspended in the air pumping gallons upon gallons of foam down onto the peeps. My excitement increased dramatically to a steady high during the night of dancing in the foam with Nick and Jeremy and some random people we still didn't know.

Overall a good night. The next day we went to Dixie rock and climbed the crack. Perfectly named. It was a pass in the rock that was just big enough for me to fit my body into, and at some points i had to squish, moving each inch of my body carfeully aware of each muscle expanding and contracting in my attempt to fit my now seemingly HUGE body through this tiny crack in the rock. Then we come to a cave, the exit, where leaving this death trap requires suspending yourself, completely stretched out with both hands in front of you, over a hole that leads several feet down into a lower cavity of the rock. Falling would hurt. Not only do you have solid rocking touching everyside of your body but there is now a hole beneath your abs requiring even more strength to maintian your current state of living. Awesome experience ever =)

Sunday was indeed a day of rest for us. After all the activities of the previous day, many of which i omitted in this post, the relaxation was well needed. After attending the sacrament meeting of the local singles ward we returned to the cool apartment to escape the sun and eat some lunch. Cake waffles, yum.

And now, here we sit, talking with new friends making memories that will last forever. On this trip I learned a lot about myself and realized that a reason for why my life is how it is, is because I feel it with excuses for not doing what I really want to do. Filled with new motivation to make my life what I want it to be I spend this night surrounded by good people sad to leave them in the morning, but excited to come back down and visit them all again soon.
